Leather, Love and Paperwork
Together with Bureau Caramel ellen:truijen created the Clash Project for Fashionclash 2013. Fashionclash connects talent, various disciplines, cultures and a broad audience through fashion events and projects such as the annual Fashionclash festival. The Clash Project is a project, initiated by Matylda Krzykowski, where artists who are not fashion designers are being asked to create a fashion outfit.
Rob and Ellen where asked as a non-fashion designing duo. Although they have a marriage in life and creativity, they both are designing as 2 individuals with in fact another profession. Creating 1 outfit was in a way impossible. Although there are a lot of similarities, there are also a lot differences in way of working and approach. It resulted in 1 outfit, but in fact it where 2. Together forever, but still two individuals.
Rob’s outfit, the suit, was based on packaging designed by Caramel for Maison Blanche Dael, a coffee roasting and tea factory. The suit is all made of paper. Ellen’s outfit, the dress, was created in ellen:truijen style, with a tail made of 41 leather ‘Hipster’ bags.
